I'm getting a constant alarm when I'm 3/4 to full throttle. I know the alarm is either overheating or fuel restriction. I am going to try the fuel route first. I have replaced the cone filter and fuel separator filter. Now I am going to replace all the lines. Is there anything else that I might be missing. If it is an overheating issue (just had my pump replace 3 months ago) where do I need to start at? I tested the thermostats by boiling in the water to see when they opened (140-150) and they did. I can run 1/2 to 3/4 throttle with out any problems.

Thanks,
Jim

If its heat it should be going into S.L.O.W. mode when it overheats which will kill half the cylinders. Causing loss of power, under 2500 RPM operation.

Do you have a fuel water seperator? Is it clean? I also hear the anti-siphon valve at the tank and fuel pickup in the tank can plug up causing a restriction.

Re: 95 150 Oceanrunner Constant Alarm

Ok I just got in from removing all the hose except the one that is somewhat formed in the engine. Can I use just standard hose in there or do I need to buy that one at the dealer??? Also all the hoses looked ok but they where cracked and all the clamps. I do have a water separator on it, I replaced it when I bought the boat. I am going to pick one up tomorrow just to try out. I also pulled the whole housing out at the fuel tank and checked the intake screen and it was all in place and looked good. I did blow the vent tube to make sure that it was clear and it actually blew out gas at the vent. Not sure if that is good or not???

One other thing when the alarm turns on this happens too. If I idle down without turning the key off and then throttle again is spits and sputters. But if I don't idle down it will continue to run. How I fix it is that when it comes on I turn the key off and put in neutral and restart and go without an alarm. I think if I was overheating it would still be on (not sure, first time dealing with a boat motor and not experience in two strokes). But like I said it will only alarm out if I go over 3/4 to full throttle (4000-5000 rpm I think).

Thanks for any help and info on my issue.

get a cheap infrared thermometer and read the head temps when the alarm sounds.

I think its fuel related.
try bumping the key in or have someone pump the bulb to see if its starving for fuel.
