I have a 1994 Johnson 6hp outboard for my Texas Star fishing boat. Last season, an unexpected flast flood rain submerged my grandfather's boat including the 6hp Johnson outboard. I followed the manufacturer's instructions to clear the cylinders, carb and fuel pump. A year later, I have replaced the fuel, replaced the spark plugs, and rebuilt the carb and the fuel pump (with OEM parts). The motor starts under full choke but will only run at 1/3 choke and elevated throttle. If I remove the choke and return to idle then the motor dies requiring a full choke to restart.
Any suggestions? I have not run a compression test to see if the rings are fouled but this motor is been very reliable prior to the submersion.
Thanks
