I took my boat out and was about 300 yards away from shore when it stalled. I don't think that it is fuel related because it wasn't "starving" for fuel or sputtering. It just died all of the sudden. I don't know much about outboards, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

you give little to no information and you dont mention any troubleshooting already performed as well as the history of the vessel prior to launch, has it been sitting, has anyone worked on it recently? have you checked to verify you are getting fuel or are you just guessing, have you checked for spark?

Re: 93 Force 40 hp outboard stalling

I bought it back in April of this year and it had not been run since about the same time last year. A friend of mine helped me get it started the day I took it out. He adjusted the throttle and it idled just fine in the water. It wasn't until we really took off that it just suddenly died. We primed it again after it stalled but were unsuccessful it getting it restarted, we even pulled the plugs in case we flooded it but still had no luck. It would crank but never wanted to fire up. That's all that we had done to it.
