I am having issues with my DT40. It idles sometimes and other times it won't start. The motor runs great some days but others it bogs down as soon as I advance the throttle. I have rebuilt the carb already and it has not changed. My plugs look great, the fuel filter is new, and the oil is fresh. Any other ideas? I was thinking about replacing the fuel pump but I wanted to get more input before I spent the money on it.

i own a 94 DT40 and i would say go back to the carbs once more, and check the fuel system for leaks/air.

also, try new fuel.

Just replace the fuel pump diaphragms soak carbs in carb cleaner over night and blow out with compressed air, make sure you clean the jets and all ....

Re: 92 Suzuki DT40 oil injected

ok I cleaned the carb and set to the specifications in the manual. Replaced the fuel pump diaphramgs, replaced the fuel lines and the tank. It ran like a bat out of heck with the water hooked up to it but when I put it in the lake it would not start. Pulled it back out and it ran ok but started to overheat, I even had a strong stream from the water pump, so I had to shut it down. The thermostat has never been changed as far as i know so i ordered a new one. Any other ideas besides the thermostat?

As always first thing to check would be compression to make sure that is good before going deeper.

ok the reeds look good and the thermostat has been replaced. Now it runs ok for a while then i get an overheat indicator so i have to shut down immediately. I have a good water stream but the motor does seem to get excessively hot so i do not think it is a faulty indicator. I am going to pick up the equipment to check the compression on Monday. Any other ideas?
