92 omc won't shift in forward only reverse

Hi my ? is when the boat is in the water it will only shift in reverse not in forward i tryed turning on the Ing. and shifting it in forward and spining the prop its kinda spins forward and backwards but when i shift it in reverse it only spins one way ??? any help would be great thanks.terry

When you start having this problem, it usually means your shift cable is on it's way out. Happened to me the exact same way. I was lucky to get back to port when this happened to me.
