My boat went back in the water after 3 years. Was not running well three years ago. It is a 92-75hp Mariner. It starts fine and runs for about an hour at all rpms then dies and will not start until it is cool, then runs for 10 minutes tops. Been towed in the last the times out.
Fuel tank was drained & cleaned. water pump, fuel filters, in line fuel/water and voltage regulator were replaced. Carbs were gummed up and rebuilt.
tried a separate 6-gal fuel tank & new fuel hose bypassing the fuel/water filter and ran it with SEA-FOAM & gas mixture. Same result. runs for an hour then dies. It shakes when started again after it cools then dies. Not sure if it is using oil.
The plugs were not replaced, mechanic said it does not need new plugs.
