92 johnson oil injection

My 92 johnson 40 hp oil injection acts up at the worse times. I get a continuous horn and than the horn will stop. Thinking about disconnecting it until I can have it checked out. Or is there a maintinance I can do on it. I haven't had the boat to long and the the guy I got it from didn't do much to maintain it. Will do it after your on the water, fish, and go to restart it but not all the time. And how far down should the oil tank go down before adding oil.

The horn is telling you something is wrong and ignoring it could result in an expensive repair. You should never let the oil res get down low enough where a hard turn could cause it to run dry. I always keep mine at least 1/2 full at all times. I usually top it off every time I go out.

DO NOT disconnect your warning system, it is there for a reason and disconnecting it could potentially cost you mucho $$$. A continous horn does not indicate low oil, it is either an over heat or fuel restriction if applicable. Im leaning towards a fuel restriction. Is the bulb sucking flat at all? Will priming the fuel bub cause the horn to stop?

I was thinking about disconnecting the oil and going to mixing oil and gas. But I'll check for a fuel problem, the placard on my controls just said continuous sound was a oil problem. My next check will be fuel and tank and filter to see if I can find anything. Thanks for the help and if you can think of anything else plaese let me know.
