I just got a 92 200hp XRi. My first trip to the lake showed it was running hot within the first 2 minutes. There was water coming out of the 'pee' hole but the engine was still showing hot. Since I got it used, I do not know if/when the impeller was changed. Any ideas? Easy fix? I only ran it at low RMPs - less than 3000. There was no water coming out of the square hole on the back of the motor either, should there be? Thanks.

Re: 92 200hp XRi overheating

One of two things could occur - I had the same problem with my 200xri - the water was shooting out of the pee hole, but under load the motor would overheat - I changed my impeller and it fixed the problem. Go to a NAPA dealer they sell them cheap there compared to marine stores. The total fix was under an hour. If that was not it the thermostats may be stuck closed. These are cheap fixes as well and you can easily do it yourself. Hope this helped I'm no mechanic, but it fixed mine.
