91 johnson 70vro warning horn

My warning horn blares as soon as i turn ignition<br />to on position.Its constant and sounds to me like<br />overheat warning,yet motor is stone cold.Fished<br />boat 2 weeks ago and seemed to be no problem.Can<br />someone point me in the right direction as i am unfamiliar with this motor.Thanking you in advance! <br /> Trevor

The next time the alarm sounds, remove the wires from your oil tank where they connect at the motor and see if the horn stops buzzing. Sometimes the electronics that sound the LOW OIL alarm go belly up and cause all kinds of weird horn sounds. <br /><br />If the horn still sounds, disconnect the tan temp sender wire on the cylinder head, and the wiring connector from your fuel:eek:il pump (VRO). If it still sounds, then you have a shorted tan wire from the motor to the horn somewhere, or a bad horn or incorrect hookup in the wiring.

Thanks Seahorse!<br /> You nailed that problem.The oil sensor in the<br />VRO tank was shorting out.Very much appreciated.<br /> Trevor
