Hi all I have a 70hp johnson it runs well while in the throttle but runs rough at low speeds and will not idle in neutral at all just dies also has a hard time starting cold and keeping it running to get it warmed up also when I shut it off while fishing and go back to turn it on I have to use the warm up lever otherwise it'll just die immediately. I checked the compression hot #1-115psi, #2-113psi, #3-113psi I did get some gunk in my fuel tank that was clogging the needle valve on the tank and am waiting on a fuel filter to see if that'll help because of possible fuel restriction

While working on the motor today I found this hanging out in the bottom of the engine housing does anyone know where this belongs seems to maybe have something to do with the throttle linkage or something??

It looks like there is a number on the part, can you post the number?

Hereafter a pic of the linkage from a 98...may be similar. The m on that part of yours resembles a Moeller brand product. Not sure what though. Is it plastic? 20190815_101102-2268x3024.jpg

Okay, I believe it is the timer base assembly adjuster. Part number 50 in the parts blowup of a 91 65 hp.

I found that by searching part number "0336299" on a marine parts place lookup schematic. Same drawings used on J/E website. Listed as NLA so dont loose it.
