90hp Force doesn't want to start now..

I am new to this forum but have found it very informational. I bought my first boat in June and have been using it as often as possible. This past Thursday I was on the lake which was windy and when heading to shore I felt I was heading toward the boat lift too fast so I went from forward to neutral to reverse and was able to land it fine. Upon restarting after a couple of hours the engine would not even turn over. I checked the ignition and battery connections which were fine. I took the engine cover off and found metalic pieces on the underside of the flywheel. I am not a mechanic by any means but I plan on pulling the flywheel off and try and figure out what is broke. Any insight would be appreciatted. The motor is a 2 stroke 50:1 oil/gas ratio 90hp Force, 1995.
