i had a heating problem and repaired it by changing the impeller and cleaning the pressure regulator. i also stretched the spring on the regulator a little. i ran the engine on the water hose and the buzzer never went off. but now the idle is a little high, could there be any relation?

If it is anything like my 40 there is a separate temp switch that tells the CDI that the motor is up to proper temp and then drops back to normal idle RPM.
Not sure why you want to start changing Yamaha part set points just for the heck of it by streching the spring. They engineer and design the parts to work properly straight from the store. If it is broke buy a new one

im a certified spring stretcher, from way back. why replace parts when you can save that one.
