Do a search for deck replacement. Basically, you will need to pull up the entire deck (including under that console). Then gut it all out down to the interior of the fiberglass of the hull. Then probably rebuild the stringers (the lengthwise ribs). Then replace the deck and then replace the console, etc. And by the way, everything needs to be wrapped with fiberglass. Plan on it taking most of the summer and costing about (best guess) $500. Nice project, but not exactly fishing.

As far as the motor, electric shift is fine if it works. Most of them no longer work or are near to failing. You cannot buy parts for the shifter. Thus, it can become an expensive anchor.

On the motor, check compression and check the lower for water in the lower unit grease (pull the screw that lets you add grease. it should come out with no metal filings attached to it. grease should not look like coffee with creamer. If either of these happens avoid it or assume that the motor is going to need to be replaced.)

It sounds like you do not have a lot of mechanical background. Do you have someone who does available to help you check the motor over? A very good idea, even if you have to bribe them.

Also, make sure to put the boat in the water and run it. They run differently in the water. If anyone trys to sell you a boat by running it on land make sure it is connected to water ("on the muffs" or in a barrel). If they run it in a dry environment, run away.

By the way, those boats here sound a little bit high (at least here in Michigan).
