Re: 90' spectrum 19' I/O

Been away from my boat for a while not away from it, but I pass it on my way to the garage, or to my car, or back inside you get the picture. Anyways we are in the home stretch I've got a little over a month to get her water ready for some late season fun in the water.

We got a new dog he looks just like my old dog his name is Dean. Dean really wants to get in the boat he has the same look on his face when we are in it slaving away as if to say " What are you doing up there can I help? Oh please, Oh please, Oh please"

Looking GOOD!!
Where the dash wood meets the floor.
If your gonna put in carpet?
That spot is gonna rot.
Maybe resin in those areas.
Doesn't have to be the whole piece, just about 5-6 inches up the sides?
Never leave the plug in.
Meant to ask this earlier, why the foam sheets in the bildge?

Have you been using pressure treated wood in this boat?

The foam sheets are there to keep the pourable urethane from getting into the strakes on the bottom therefore holding water and soaking the floatation foam till it doesn't float so good

As for the pressure treated question only in the upper decks and more specifically the front deck since it has a live well on one side and a cooler on the other.

Front decks are nearly done next week is rear deck and motor install.

The cooler is in Literaly I found a Coleman that fit well added a drain in the rear. This cooler is larger than the original and it's insulated to now.

Motor is in the boat today ca-chow

I used UHMW to set the motor mounts on. The original was wood and had settled quite a bit with soft wood and time

The matting surface cleaned up nicely

I her motor goes Arrrrrrr

It's in and bolted down for now we'll do the alignment next week. I have to erect the aft compartment for the motor and get that all worked out this week.

Finally got the lower unit installed, rebuilt the distiburtor, primed the oil system, installed the fuel pump, and got some little things like gaskets and stuff installed. I will be ready to build the rear deck now.

I made the alignment tool in the shop at work why pay $80 for a tool when you can do a govt project and work and stay in the confines of your work duties.

The alignment tool, the marks on it after you pull it out?
Grease it and shove it in and pull it out.
The splines/marks from the coupler should be even all the way around.
Should go in easy and come out easy.

Re: 90' spectrum 19' I/O

Pulled the motor through and checked it in 90? increments the tool slips in so easy it was way out of whack when I first started so as I let the motor mounts down the tool just slipped in. The drive went together easier than it came out. I think the spongy deck had let the motor drop some so on this go around I used UHMW to space engine mounts up off the aluminum sub structure.

I somehow have lost track of the retainers for the throttle cables so I had to order new ones so next friday will be the first startup and then maybe to the lake Saturday for a shakedown run. I don't have any furniture for the inside for now I will probably make for the rest of the season and do the upholstery after tax time and spend the rest of my money on a suitable road cover.

Motor purrs like a kitten starts immediately can't wait to get it to the lake but I ran into some problems the other night and and was able to take it to the lake. My shift cable snapped the end off on the motor end so I hope I can replace it.

Re: 90' spectrum 19' I/O

Question for you old OMC guys the cable that comes from the shifter at the helm and goes to the shift mechanism on the exhaust side of the engine broke on me. The cable looks fine but the plastic end that sits in the cable anchor is the part that broke. The end looks to be held on with a cotter key. Is it possible to just buy that piece?

Re: 90' spectrum 19' I/O

It's been a few months since I posted last and a very long winter. I managed to find a very nice 14x35 rv storage locker that allowed mine and Dads boat to spend the winter inside. We took the boats out of storage the first of April We stopped work with these things being done.

I have recieved all of my new seats and am finally making head way I even have started covering the boat since itfinally has some worth to it.

] Nearly done. Took it to the lake last weekend but never for it off the trailer. I think the fuel has turned bad it won't idle like it did last year before winterizing it.
