90 omc 3.0 litre - no power or top speed

i have a 1990 3.0 litre omc cobra with a 15 x 17 ss prop. The boat has no power out of whole and only gets 43-4500 rpm with a top speed of 30 mph at wide open planed out. With people in boat and skiing it cant pull them out of water I think there should be more power and speed wit that motor. the boat is 1991 renken 17.5 ft. any thoughts on where to start. im new to the boating scene. <br /><br />thanks

I think the RPM is a good #, someone else may know more for this setup. I'm not sure how fast you should be able to go at that RPM though. Maybe a gear ratio issue?

The #s you state are about in line with what I would expect to see.................<br />That motor is the Smallest, Least powerful motor offered these days,...... Maybe 130/140hp..... <br />That's Not Much power to push an Empty boat,.... Load it Up,+ Tie-on a Skier,+ You're Severely Underpowered.....................<br /><br />If you want More Power,+ Speed,........<br />Buy a boat with a Bigger Motor..........
