Starts but smokes and only way to keep running is to keep chocking it more. Then more smoke.....any suggestions? It had set for about a year. Before I started it I pumped all the old gas out which had had stabilizer in it but thought might be good idea to pump old gas out before starting. I had never had this problem before always started on first try.

For cleaning the carbs, the best way is to pull them off the machine and soak them in a solution or spray them with carb cleaner. You can leave them installed and clean them with some spray carb cleaner, but it is a much less thorough job. There's a thread on it: http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engin...whos-done-them. Best of luck.

The only way to clean them is to remove them and disassemble them, cleaning out all ports and passages.

Step one, is usually to buy a shop manual for your motor.

Step 2, buy a carb rebuild kit for each carb.

Step 3, buy a can of Berrymans or the equivalent carb soaking cleaner. If you don't have an air compressor to blow the carb body out, get a couple of cans of computer keyboard dusting compressed air with the tube to direct air.

Lol

Step 4, strip the carbs as far as you need to, your newly acquired manual will tell you just how far you need to go. Remove any rubber or plastic parts (recording the carb from which they came because you do not want carb cleaner to contact rubber or plastic. .....
