'90 Mercury 150 lower unit

I found a '90 Merc 150 for sale locally that needs a lower unit, and heard a rumor that Alpha I/O lowers fit. Anyone know if there's any truth to that? An SEI lower unit would be a pretty quick and easy fix for this problem

The Alpha Drive shaft is too short, and the shift shaft is different.

Laddies, If you changed the driveshaft, and modified the shift shaft, would it then fit?
