Er ah, I never saw an Optimax. I never saw an air filter on an outboard either in 50+ years of boating. Some decades back, they put a plastic air box over the carb venturi's for noise abatement, but it was just an empty plastic box.

+1^ Most it would have is an emty air box to help deaden the noise. Mainly cause there is no dirt when being run on the water. JMO

Its a filter for the air compressor. All Optimax/ dfi have the filter, to keep any dirt, foreign objects out of the compressor. It is supposed to be changed every 100 hours.

Here is a listing, I don't think these will fit the 90.

Sorry for the confusion. As I said I never saw an Optimax and was thinking of the carb inputs.
