Which pump do you have is it a 4 wire pump or 3. If it is a 4 wire pump it has been updated i would leave it. You may have a bad warning horn thats why it sounds continuously . The alarms are as follows
#1 a steady beep is an overheat.
#2 a beep every 20-30 seconds is a low oil alarm.
#3 a beep every second or two is a no oil flow alarm.

I may have been mildly impatient when trouble shooting. I got home from work and went out to clean up the garage, got side tracked and ended up hooking up the oil tank to the horn wire. I turned the key to on position and the alarm sounded...... roughly 30+ seconds later it stopped. put key to off position then to on and nothing.? I then removed the oil pickup from the tank and 30 secs later I had a single beep. I left the pickup tube out for ten minutes and had a beep every 30ish secs. After the ten minutes of beeping I reinstalled the oil pickup line and the alarm stopped. I left the key off for 15 or so minutes and cleaned up the tools then tried again. Key to on pos and silence.... grounded out the port side temp sensor and had an alarm for 30 secs then quiet. repeated oil tank pickup removal and beeping every 30ish sec. I left the key on and had no alarms. . . .

It is a 4 wire vro I believe. grey, purple, black and tan wires all connect to the pump.
I'm a 2 stoke fan. grew up racing cr125s here in nh and have always pre mixed but being on the water is new to me. I don't want to disable something that works but also know how picky they can be. it seems based on the posts that the alarms are working correctly? But I am open to all perspectives on the subject.

Also I should note that the previous owner did have the motor rebuilt and provided the paperwork to back it up. not sure exactly what was done but the receipt is dated for 2 years ago and includes the info to see that the entire top end with pistons was done.

well. . . im leaning towards a faulty sensor in the vro tank. I went out to the boat this morning turned the key on and guess what happened. . . an alarm that would not stop and seemed to change pitch as it went off. traced all the wires from vro to motor then from motor and sensors all the way to dash and found zero possible shorts. The alarm stopped once unplugged from vro. the feeling that I have is the change in alarm pitch volume is pointing directly to a bad oil pick up sensor.

Thanks to everyone for the input.

yes the second is a typo. the alarm was continuous when connected to the oil tank not the vro unit. I removed the pickup from the oil tank to see if I could spot something amiss with the wiring but could not. I reinstalled the pickup tube and reconnected the horn to the oil tank alarm wire and it was quiet until I moved the tank. After moving the tank and wires around the horn was erratic and would change pitch and sound level.
