I have the same boat, only mine is a 1988. You have to cut the floor out to remove the gas tank.

So I assume that is an expensive task? How difficult is it? it don't sound too hard to do, but I would be scared of cutting lines wires etc...

To have a shop do it...yes I would think it might be a bit pricey. The only wires that run anywhere close to the gas tank are the speaker wires.

I would double check the the hoses and hose clamps that go to the fuel tank first. They're all located at the back of the tank by the fuel fill tube. A lot less effort and expense to replace a hose than tear up your floor.

I'll have to see if I can get to them. I guess I have to at least pull the seats to do that.
