ok found someting ...try cooling the ignition module and coils

no need to buy condensers :)

well having a model # will help pick a diagram in the mean time ...cooling suspect parts to restore sparks may help. shooting coolant spray on the ignition coils could help pinpoint problem components & restore ignition

racerone... how about sharing that model #

Yes , I forgot to mention it's a 1998.

Could there be an internal blockage, old pieces of an impeller, lake debris, calcium buildup, blocking a passage in the head, causing part of the head to overheat.

Test the spark when motor refuses to start warmed up.-----Assumptions get no results !

sorry my limited experience did not permit me to rapidly determine the year of manuf. I'll leave this one to you and 909 to sort out. .

Why so thin skinned? I just pointed out what a 93 and newer 9.9/15 hp looked like.

I'll run it WOT for a good amount of time. Then kill it.
After shutting it down, how much time goes by before you try to start it?

What if you try to restart it right away?
Or 10 minutes later?
Or an hour?

Is it harder to restart the longer it sits?

Most of the time I try to restart it immediately with a lot of difficulty

Infrared testers are pretty cheap. Get a measurement when warmed up, then when it won't start. 160F is overheating (top of cylinder head).
