Hello The 9.6 Evinrude I asked about turned out to be a 9.5 sportwin model 9422 year 1964. Still 5 to 10 hours actual use pristeen appearance. Price $300.00. What do you think. Any help will be appreciated. Thank You Bessfirst.

Re: 9.6 Evinrude revisited

Is this a motor that you are thinking about purchasing?

The best price paid for a motor is a price that you are happy with. They vary from area to area. I have paid too much for a motor before, but I really wanted it so I was ok with it.

I personally think the price is a tad high, but if it is fully tuned and running, you like it and am happy with it than the price is right isnt it.

I would call that a decent price for an outboard that has been demonstrated on the water, Bess.

Glad it turned out to be a real Evinrude. :)

Re: 9.6 Evinrude revisited

Ahhhh, the first year of the 9.5. $300 for a motor like that in pristeen condition is the average price and pretty fair. The dealers would have priced it higher, but a private party doesn't want a motor to sit on the used motor rack for 12 months either. :D

I hope you enjoy it. Good little motors. They built them until 1973. Pretty much all parts till then are compatible, except for the motor cover. Yours has the twist lock on the cover and that was made only in '64 and '65. They moved the release lever into the lower cowl in '66, but pretty much all the other parts on that are interchangeable.
