9.5 johnson outboard needs expert opinon...

I have just purchased this motor its flow of water out the back is not continous , What could the problem be? can i obtain a manual from somewhere the year is 1975, could there be a block some where in side, could sand block something inside of the motor stopping the flow of water coming out ?<br /> thanks colin

Remove the lower unit and check the impeller. It is the normal cause.

Hi,<br />Also check the compresion,could have a leaky headgasket also.<br /><br />corm

First check the thermostat (if so equipped).<br />You may remove it for testing the engine without it, to see if flow returns to normal, but DO NOT leave it out for good.Replace it if it is defective. Engine damage may result, because the thermostat controls the way the head heats up.<br />Also, there is a tube along the right side, from the lower unit,out the left side of the<br />head cover,on the bottom. Look for something<br />blocking this. They plug up all the time on mine,but i DO like skinny water.
