9.5 Evinrude - Only Runs w/Full Choke

I have a '73 Evinrude 9.5. It starts and runs, but only with full choke. As soons as I push in the choke, and the carb starts pulling more air, it stalls. I checked the fuel filter and it is clear. I have a new gas tank and fuel line so I know that's not the problem. I think it has to either be the carb or the fuel pump? Any ideas of what I should be looking for?

squeese the bulb if that doesent work thin the carb are clogged . there is a plug in the bottom of bowl remove it and run a wire in it . there is a highspeed orfice in the backside . clean it out . you will probabley be better off to rebuild the carb.papasage

Has the motor been stored for any length of time? Drop the carb and soak in cleaner, then blow out with compressed air. Start there, it should get you up and going.
