9.5 1967 evinrude compression

What is the correct compression for this engine. I did a compression test and showed 70/70. I put a little oil in each cylinder and got it up to 120/120. The engine runs good, should I be concerned if the compression is this low?

It does seem low, but if it runs good, why be concerned? At worst you're just a little low on power from a 30+ year old engine.<br /><br />You may want to try decarbing it to pull those numbers up a bit. You may also want to try taking the compression when the engine is warm.<br /><br />Good luck!<br /><br />EDIT: Sorry, to answer your first question, there is no spec for the compression for that engine. The most important thing is that there is no more than a 10% difference in compression between both cylinders. 90psi or greater is generally considered very good.

I wouldn't be concerned.The cylinders are balanced perfect,and if it runs good .............well you know the rest.

I would still do the decab as mentined above. It might wake it up a little.<br /><br />It surely will not hurt.
