I am new to boating and bought a new 2007 Mercury 4-stroke 8HP Outboard for my Jon Boat...Starts on the 1st or 2nd pull 99.999% of the time..
BUT - occasionally, on initial start up, if I pull the starter cord and the engine ALMOST starts but does not quite turn over, then it takes about 45 minutes of pulling the cord to get it started....
I am not sure what causes this, my guess is flooded carb...but I don't know how to UNFLOOD it (if that is even the problem)..
I have considered converting to and electric start as the engine already has the brackets but that seems extreme...Is there an easy way to fix this?
