Re: 89 Suzuki DT 75 oil leak

I have followed your issue with great interest. The Suzuki cranks are pretty solid. If you have a bad bearing you will feel it when you rotate the con rod. If there is no up and down play and no roughness then the crank is good. I have rebuilt several DT's and I have found the cranks generally very good. Problems only showed when the oiling system failed to deliver. The oil failures were only due to lack of cleanliness and blockage of the little check valves in the hoses.
It is possible to have one bearing and con rod replaced without replacing the other good bearings.

My apologies for the extended delay on the DT75 oil leak update and reply,,, after a 29 years of duty my former company offered a early out with buyout to go, so took it and turned around, hired on riding the rails for the next five years, quite busy,,three different crew bases total, till they cut, so on liberty now , freedom ,,,anyway enough said skeeter boy been waiting since the machine shop. slight bore, new pistons, rings, wrist pin and some bearings,,thanks Power Head Exchange Tampa Fl. So last year 2019 had time to finished putting it back together, turns out oil pump worn, symptom over oiling,,with wear they are designed to over pump rather than under pump. gives you the seepage out from the bottom main seal at the crankshaft. so been running premix oil in the fuel and found with the pump disengaged from the driveshaft the oil line in their place #2 was sucking oil through the line building up in the case. Current status 50:1 premix in the fuel, pump disengages oil lines looped to each other, thick vacuume tubes with flat head screws on the manifolds to keep from sucking air till after fishing season. p.s. the armature still giving a good charge to the battery.
