I've got an engine heat issue. Yesterday my boat ran fine for about 30 minutes and then the temp gauge started moving toward the hot peg while crusing at about 3000 rpm's. I shut er down and let it cool for about 30 minutes. I had to advance the throttle to get er to start but she did and then ran fine. I've noticed a few times recently that the temp gauge doesn't move for the first few miles of travel. Does this engine have a thermostat? Could this be a problem?
It's peeing water but not a steady stream at idle....it's intermittent. After I come out of the hole the stream is solid and strong. I haven't replaced the impeller in 8 years or so but plan to do so in the immediate future. I pulled the cowling at the dock and the starboard engine head is much hotter than the other after a few minutes of idle. I pulled a crossover hose that run's across the top of the heads to see if I had water flow and nothing came out when the engine was idling. Should water come out of this hose when disconnected and idling?
