89 merc wiring harness diagram

Finally got new engine in but one of the pin connectors pulled out on removal. Does anyone know which wire the gray one on the boat side of harness connect to thanks guys

I believe it should go from the coil - to the tachometer. Pin #2?

Would that explain why my positive wire from electronic ignition is smoking every time I crank?

Smoking wire was pinching wire under cap. So can I bypass the harness to the gray coil wire?

Ayuh,... Ya won't have a Tach, til ya do, or repair the connection somehow,...

Just by-pass the cannon plug for the tach,...
