28? BTDC is 2 5/16" to the left of TDC. 30? BTDC is 2 1/2" to the left of TDC. 32? is 2 11/16" to the left of TDC. You should static time your motor at WOT for 28? BTDC.

Re: 89 force 85 timing marks

Measure accurately around the outside diameter of the flywheel with string or something flexible - steel tape measure likely no good. Divide circumference by 360, the result being the distance per degree. For example: circumference of 30" divide by 360 equals 0.083" per degree. Now measure accurately the distance between marks (at the same radius you measured the circumference) and divide by the previous result (0.083) and that will be the number of degress BTDC. For example, if the marks are 2.5" apart, divide by 0.083, the result is 30, or 30 degrees apart. Before TDC will be to the left (clockwise). Bear in mind the numbers I threw in are for example only.

Static Engine Timing
1. Remove spark plugs from the engine.
2. Connect a spark tester or spark board to all spark plug wires. This will
prevent the outboard from starting during the test.
3. Remove the propeller.
4. Attach a timing light to the number one cylinder.
5. Shift engine into forward gear then to the wide-open throttle position.
6. Crank engine over while aiming the timing light at the timing marks and
note the reading.
7. The timing should be within the specifications given in the "Tune-Up
Specifications" chart.
8. Make any necessary timing changes by adjusting the timing rod connected
to the trigger housing.
9. If necessary repeat the max timing procedure until the settings are correct
