I've been told that unless you have an original Force flush muff for the Force outboard motor you can not use the standard flush muff. For several years I have been filling a large tub with water each time I wanted flush the motor. But this procedure is getting too difficult for this old sailor. Not ready to give up my boat yet, I love being on the water too much. "You can take the man out of the sea, but you can't take the sea out of the man." So I am inquiring if someone who owns an old Force outboard motor has a recommendation for an alternative method to flush my motor. Thanks.

Get the right muffs or modify one.
The pics are the correct muffs.
You can use the regular muffs but they don't work as well.
If you use the regular make sure to run for short times and keep an ear tuned in for the alarm.
Test the alarm?? key on, motor off, ground the orange lead at the buss bar.
That should make the buzzer sound off.
I change the tiny little buzzer to a motorcycle horn(just make sure it's wired right).

Jerry's pics is the only kind of muffs I use for my 125HP. I've tried the other muffs even the expensive one but they do not work. The simple solid thick wire with only one water connection is the only one that works perfectly for my 125HP that has the inlet holes on the "bullet" gear case. A little mod as shown will even make it fit better. Note, YOU CANNOT USE FULL FAUCET PRESSURE WHILE USING THE MUFFS IT WILL ONLY MAKE THINGS WORSE AS THIS WILL LIFT THE MUFFS OFF THE INLET HOLE AND LESS WATER GOES TO THE ENGINE. Throttle the faucet pressure just enough so you see water coming out of the snout and also from the idle vent holes at the mid-leg.

Thanks guys, I've order a dual flush round muff. I plan to cut it down to fit the motor leg as snug as possible. I'll let you know how it works... it will be next week or two. Supposed to snow here next Monday. So I'll have to wait a few days until I can do the flush and finish winterizing.
