i'm trying to replace the o-ring and washer? in my trim cylinder. i found the same size o-ring at the hardware store but where do you get that washer? my mechanics force diagrams don't break down the unit and my manual just shows the whole unit...also any suggestions on how to get those corroded mounting bolts out? i already tried liquid wrench and drive outs with no luck
thanks

Hi Mike,

Changed the o-ring for my cylinder, dont understand what you mean with that washer.. Anyway, are you sure the o-ring is ment to last under pressure and with oil? Im not under estimating you, but there are several different types of rubber for different types of use.

Try rust loosener for the bolts, they snap quite easily if (when) they are corrosed badly. I had to do helicoil threads for my trim cylinder.

jaba-
thanks for the reply. the o-ring sits within the removable part of the trim cylinder (around the piston) and the flat sided washer (looks like a garden hose washer that is slotted inside) seats outside of that just below the metal cap. please feel free to underestimate me as i am doing this job without any reference.

washer - a flat round disk, with a hole in the center.

A washer can be metal, for use with nuts and bolts.

Or it could be rubber, to be used as a seal.
Example: a rubber washer is used to seal a garden hose, to the water spigot(faucet).

thank you jaba and roscoe.....
i still can't get the broken bolts out, but i plugged the line for the trim cylinder send and return lines and the tilt valve works great. can i get by for now without the trim cylinder or does that put too much pressure on the tilt cylinder?
