recently purcheased this javelin fish and ski with the evinrude 70 vro. guy had alot of work done to it, i put the muffs on it and ran it the night before with no problem. next morning i sit her in the water and pump bulb then try to start and she started and died, continued to do this until battery died. paddled back to trailer and pulled it back to the shop. i had the cover off the motor before and no leaks, but while trying to start it in the water that day i noticed the telltale look in the water of something leaking. pull the cover back at the shop and smell gas, when i pump the bulb gas comes out of the little circle on top of the vro? i have done research on the vro and am thinking of rebuilding it or replacing it. so much easier when it mixes on its own. my question is will the rebuild correct this problem?IMG_20130529_165117_859.jpg

This is the fuel inlet/oil pump housing part of the VRO. Unfortunately this is not part of the VRO rebuild kits.

And when (not if) they go out you find out when your motor blows. Big fan of removing them and mixing your gas.

Well this is the pressureless fuel side. If there isn't a crack in the housing getting larger over time you may be able to seal it with JB weld or similar.

Edit:
Looked a little closer. Underneeth the circle is the piston used for the no-oil alarm. I'm not sure whether the circle is supposed to be open and the piston is leaking.
