So this is my summer project. The goal is to have it in the water by Labour day. Didn't pay a dime for it, so I don't mind sinking a few bucks into it. The floor was mush, three winters uncover with the plug in will do that. The seats are trash, as is most of the interior. Motor has good compression, needs a carb rebuild and a good battery.
Will post pics as progress is made, gonna be a little slow, it's my busy season. I plan on stripping it bare and changing the seating to something a little more kid friendly. Possibly benches down the port and stern, with a nice captains chair starboard.

How is the engine? Before you go doing all that, make sure the engine is ok.

Engines good, ordered a carb rebuild kit just to be safe. Fired up second try, not bad for an engine thats been sitting for three years.

Another Baylinner owner, cool. I have a 88 1952 cuddy. I love her and hate her. I love the way she rides and handles. I hate the way I have to get in her when banked. Get er done and post some pics. Welcome to the madness.

Nice project. Those were always neat looking hulls. See if you can work on larger pictures for the next time (my vote would be to use photobucket.com instead of iboats as your picture host). Good luck with your project and welcome to the restoration madness.

It's a 1702, got the manual emailed from Bayliner yesterday, 17 is the length, the 02 I believe is for the outboard designation..

I think there are only 3, 17' Capri model for 1988.1750 BR (CS) Which has an inboard engine.1700 BR (CR) Which has an outboard.1702 CUDDY (CC) Which has an outboard and cuddy cabin.I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I own a 95 Cuddy like yours, taking it out today for the first time this summer, Did the side panels over the last few weekends, and while working on those, found some soft spots in the floor. I think I am going to put off redoing the floor until after Labor Day and make it a fall winter project. Take lots of pictures of yours so I will know what I am getting into when I start mine.
