bought boat on ebay and motor idles very rough meaning had to idle at 1300-1400 rpms or it would stall in water. Did a link/sync. Went through carbs and did not see anything obvious so cleaned and new gaskets. Found rectifier was bad and replaced which ran a little better. Did check on stator and was out of range so replaced but did not seem to make a difference. compression was between 125-130 on all cylinders. Tried new gas n/g. 
Ordered reeds from cc, idled a little better and would not load up at slow speeds.
I now have it idling at about 1000-1100 with muffs on but tach jumps 300 rpm while idling and motor sounds like it's idling rough or shaking alot. Looks like bottom switch box has been changed at some point. How smooth do these engines run being this old. Everybody else at the dock seems to have engines that idle smooth and mine sounds like it's running on 4 cylinders at idle but runs good everywhere else. PLEASE HELP
