Muffed outboard ,Overheated. Changed stats springs and valves in housing, Head gaskets, bottom powerhead gasket, top gaskets, good water flow the "pisser" is flowing.Still overheating. Stats open at 140-150 . Thinking the springs on th pressure relif seats in the thermo housing are to long not allowing it to flow properally.Does this sound like the fix or has anyone had this problem ?

Re: 88 Hp johnson ,Overheating

I've recently had some overheating issues that I had to deal with.

When you replaced the head gaskets did you check and see if the restrictors were in place in the water passages around the cylinder? If they are missing there isn't a good heat exchange going on and can cause overheating. Also check the water pump components. My pump housing, impeller, etc. seemed ok and had a steady stream coming out, but I got an alarm. Replaced entire pump and so far no alarm.

Hope this helps
Good Luck
