Changing from 40 hp Johnson to 85 hp Force. Foes the shift linkage just pop off or is there another way to get off.. Thanks in advance

There is a spring loaded sleeve that you push out of the way to release the cable. Try sliding the sleeve to the right, away from the end of the cable to release it.
