We just got a 1988 Evinrude 140 hp V4 with a VRO however the VRO had been disconnected. The first time we took it to the lake it ran great, the second time it ran great until we stopped an fished a few hrs then when we started it back up it did fine for a few minutes then started running rough and skipping and then cut off, got it running again but had to go slow to keep it running. Replaced the Fuel/Water separator filter, fuel pump, hoses, and sparkplugs. took it back to the lake today and at first it did good then it started doing the same thing just not as bad. It seems like if you keep it at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle it runs smooth but seems to surge, if you put it to full throttle its almost like its the same as 1/4 to 1/2 throttle if that makes any since. It runs mixed gas at the 50:1 ratio. and the serial number is G1444479. Model number E140TLCUA. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas you may have
