have a 88 baja 220 force would like to know if i could replace a mercruiser engine with a chevy engine any input would be appreciated

Well, Mercruisers are GM-based, so the block and heads would be similar to what you'd find in a car.
The big difference is that accessories like the starter and alternator HAVE to be ignition protected for use in a boat. Gasoline fumes can collect in the lowest part of the boat and can explode from a spark.
There's a lot more differences between them, but this stuff is the most important IMO.
If you do the swap, you need to educate yourself to do it safely.

im using mercruiser starter and alt just wanted to know if i could use block and heads using mercruiser dist and coil

You would get many more informed responses if you posted this question in the Mercruiser section. Although the boat is a Baja, the motor information is Mercruiser and not a Baja specific component.
