Hello all,

My 88 3.0 mercruiser runs great for about 30 minutes while tubing, all of a sudden it starts to sputter and slows down and speeds up at same throttle position. I have always had small issues with it starting when it runs for a while. Last year I replaced the carb, fuel line, fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributor, and starter. It seemed to be running great until we stated taking it tubing. Not sure if it’s the carb settings, bad gas or who knows? I ran some sea foam through a tank and not it’s starting and idling rough on top of it. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

replaced the carb

Motor running bad and instead of rebuild the carb it was replaced. This is ok so long as it was rebuild correctly and adjustments where not changed in shipment. If it was running lean, more damage can happen. Not saying this is what happened, just things to consider

Motor might be getting tired. Try a compression test and have it warmed up
