87 Evinrude bogs out at half throttle

Im new here and was hoping to find some help with a long lasting problem. I have a 87 Evinrude 60hp VRO that starts and idles great. It also runs decent at very low speeds. When I get to about half throttle, the engine bogs out. It used to kick in every time I pushed in the choke, but that does not work anymore. Before last year, the boat had not been run for many years. My dad, who does a lot of motor work, rebuilt the carbs and replaced some of the old fuel lines. He gave me the boat and it ran great at first. After about 3-4 months, the problem I described started. I noticed the other day the primer bulb was not keeping pressure. After looking under engine cover, I found the fuel line from the fuel filter to the fuel pump was leaking badly. After fixing this line, the problem still exists. Any ideas??

did you replace the whole fuel line, bulb and all? if not, do that, bulb could be bad or any other part of the fuel line , also sounds like fuel pump could be an issue as to not supply enough fuel.

I should have been more clear. After replacing the fuel line from the fuel filter to the fuel pump, the bulb now holds pressure but the engine still runs the same. Would you still recommend new fuel line and bulb from gas tank to engine? I have not replaced that at all.

sorry jman for taking so long, had to head to work. i would replace it, it might not be bad, but its a cheap way of knowing that isnt your issue.. you might want to also rebuild the fuel pump.. that is all good cheap maint. if that doesnt cure it, im thinking probably a carb issue.. might of got something up in them from the fuel and plugged something up.. im not very boat motor savy, but am a mechanic for vehicles and it just sounds like its a fuel problem some place, and i usually try to start with the cheap stuff first.. lol

Thanks for the reply stillinne2. I ended up pulling aparts the carbs over the weekend just to see they were clean for myself. Turns out I had a chunk of something stuck in the high speed jet. Blew that out, cleaned the carbs and put the motor back together. Runs great now! Thanks for the ideas!
