87 Classic fifty 45 hp. Timing help

Can anyone give me clear instructions on how to check timing of this engine? I have a Seloc manual but it's like a foreign language to me. thank you

Timing only goes out of adjustment when folks molest it.--------What is your motor doing , not doing ?

My motor is only running at 4k RPMS at WOT, and yes I have changed the stator and trigger so I have had the flywheel off.

Remove lower unit.-----Use a strong flashlight and look for blockage in the exhaust housing.---Costs time but no $$$---And what does compression read ?----And is this issue something that showed up suddenly ?

compression is 120 psi on all 4cyl, as for showing up suddenly I haven't had this boat out for several years. I have cleaned the carbs new fuel lines, new 13p prop and plugs. I have tested spark and all checks out did voltages with my DVA and Everthing seems good, also I did change water pump expelled. Could I not have something together right?

Post # 4 suggests you check the exhaust for blockage.

I will be checking it tonight, it does get 5k RPMS if on the muffs. could it still be in the exhaust? Also what exactly am i looking for ?
