I've been talking with a guy that is selling this boat. I've tested it in the water and everything seems to be in great shape. This is my first boat, but it seems like it will be a good enough boat for me and what I want to do. (just cruising around, tubing, skiing, and a maybe a little fishing) The motor on it is the 5.0 Volvo Penta 265hp, he was selling it at $4200 and I got him to go to $3000. With the boat and trailer it weighs in at a little over 2500lbs. The only vehicle I have with a hitch is a 2003 Buick LeSabre.... and I'm not quite sure if this would be good enough to tow the boat. I won't be towing it very long distances, the lake is only about 5 miles from my house, but still would I have any issues? I am in the market for a truck, but it won't be for another month or so before I can get one and I want to get this boat soon and get some use in before summer is over.

Any help info or comments would be very appreciated, thanks

Welcome to iboats!

According to this chart, maximum towing capacity for your car is 1000#, so you would be WAY over. I wouldn't risk it, personally.

Smart move - rather see you spend $800 on the truck than wreck a $3000 boat. Now comes the fun of fixing the issues on the $800 truck to be able to tow with it (I just spent $600 last week - mass air flow sensor, O2 sensor, rear diff oil change, transmission oil change, new tow/haul switch, and fixed brake controller - this was on a $18,000 truck; just to get it ready to tow my new boat). Good luck and happy towing/boating.

Good move. I towed a 16' aluminum with an '00 Regal for 2 season and it was a PITA. I got a Chevy full size and am real glad I did.
