I have an 1987 75 hp 2 stroke and am tring to reset the floats in both carbs. Does anyone know what the float hight is to be set at? When I opened them up one is set slightly higher than the other so Im guessing that they need to be the same. Thanks Jim

turn the carbs upside down and set the float so that it sits level with the bowl ( not flush with the edge ) but level or slightly below that . i've attached a hand drawing to give you an idea of what you want .

Thanks Verado for the reply. I guess that theirs no real number to set them at, just level across the top to the bowl. This motor runs great on the trailer but in the water under load it is very sluggish and winds out at 4500 rpm. then it very had to start when warm, just cranks for a long time before it will catch. I just think it something fuel related. Thanks again

yeah if the needles dont seat then it just floods - if the setting at level doesn't do it you can go slightly off level towards the bowl -again with the carbs upside down . i learned this trick from merc mechanics who still remember what a carb looks like .
