I'm looking at a boat to replace my currently undersized smokercraft. Only details I have from the seller is that its an aluminum '87 16 foot, w/o motor, no model # or decal on the boat other than Starcraft. Seller claims its rated for an 85 hp, but the CG plate is not on the boat and I'm waiting on the Hull ID #. From pics it appears to have the U-shaped seating at the bow and seller claims it had back to back seating in the middle. I'm not so concerned about hp but I do need to have it rated for at least 5 persons (family of 5). Anyone happen to know or have the info that will help point me to a list of Starcraft ID's and capacity ratings?
Thanks much
Joel

Most 16' bow rider Starcrafts were the SuperSport model and yes were rated for an 85 hp

Here is a picture of my SS capacity plate

Here's some pics. Thanks bob_vt, so to expand on the plate ratings, since these boats may not have a person capacity rating, just keep the total weight under specified amount? I am going to check with my state DNR to see if I can have it inspected and replated if I purchase the boat.

7 people at 150 lbs each = 1050

Here in VT the DNR (AKA DEC) really do not look at those plates unless there is a blatant violation going on.

Nice looking boat...... I have the same boat upside down in my yard right now.

[QUOTE but the CG plate is not on the boat and I'm waiting on the Hull ID #.

With no original plate the HIN may have been assigned by your licensing agency, that is what happened to my boat. Possible any official paperwork would help identify it too.

If you buy it and need more info this is where you can get it.

My 84 SS160 is rated on the plate, for 90HP max and 1200lb gross and 900lbs for passangers and gear.

Nope. I had an 85 on my 16' Jupiter which was rated for 85. I now have a 90 on my 18' SS which is rated for 150  Bob_VT may, or may not, have a 115 ready for his 16' ;)

Any plans for nice 150 outback? And then you can replace the Starcraft logo with Ferrari logo ;):D
