Hello, All! Ran this motor all last week, without any problems in the first half of the week. Midweek it started bogging down at WOT. Seems to run OK at 5000 RPM or less, but once I go full throttle,or over 5000 RPM, it goes, then boggs, and goes etc.. Seems to be idling a little rough, like timing or spark advance is off. Fuel consumption seems to be a bit high. Just installed new fuel pump, and mix fuel myself. Plugs look fine, other than that, I'm not too sure where to start. Please Help!!!!

are you running a fuel/water separator, could need changing. or the fuel filter on the fuel pump, your recommended wot operating range is 4500-5500, with the motor developing the full Hp at 5000. sounds like at the higher rpms. the fuel delivery is not keeping up.

Re: 87 140 Evinrude V4 Problem

Hello, Tashasdaddy, and thank you for the reply! I was actually getting about 6000 rpm at wot, unless my tach is not accurate, 5000 was definately not maxed. My water/fuel seperator is fairly brand new, and the fuel pump is brand new, doesn't have the VRO side on it. Checked fuel filter, and other than a few tiny specs on it, it was clean.
