I recently purchased a 1989 Gemini Bass Boat with a 1986 Mercury XR2 150, the boat had been sitting for 9 years. I drained all the fuel out of the tank, rebuilt the carb's and replaced the filter. I replaced about 5 gallons of fuel and the engine started right up and had run until I noticed the heads were getting hot, not much flow was coming out of the pisser. I then replaced the water pump and moved the boat back to my house. The next day was going to the ramp to check the water flow and take it for a ride. I put 15 gallons of new fuel in and went to the ramp, tried for about an hour and the engine wouldn't start. It would fire up and die right back out if I would give it more throttle it would still die out. With the price of fuel these day's I would hate to dump out more fuel. Any ideas ? Sorry it was so long...

If you didn't replace the hoses after sitting 9 years, they probably shelled out and plugged up all your good work.
