'86 Evinrude dies & won't start

Hello, I'm new here. I have a 86 60 HP Evinrude.
It died suddenly at full throttle.
The motor acted like it was seized.
It started after a few minutes and I ran it at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle for about 5 minutes.
I took off again about an hour later and the same thing happened.
Now I can't even pull start it. It's mechanically difficult to pull the rope.
I looked through the many issues in this forum, all I could find was venting, vapor, and alcohol in the gas.

It has been rebuilt a few years ago by a reputable dealer. Every year this motor is awesome. Yesterday, opening fishing, I took it out for the first time, and it was 45-50 degrees. It started normal for the outside temp.

pull plugs, and see if it will turn freely, by hand, notice any stiff spots. make sure it is in neutral. was it putting out a good tale tell stream? was it hot? when was impeller last changed? any alarm sounded? are you using the vro or premix fuel.

It ran for about 5-6 minutes to begin with. There was a good stream coming out. It was smoking more than normal. I think that may have been from fogging oil...It didn't seem hot all. I don't know what "vro" is, but I used STABIL last fall and 3 gallons of fresh gas with the proper oil mix. I'll try the plug/rotate thing and see what happens. Thanks

I removed the plugs and it rotated by hand. I could hear the stroke and compression - no hang ups. I checked the filter and it looked good. It now turns over by the key with the plugs in. My batteries are low because I had to troll motor back to shore. Is it possible that there is air in the lines. It backfired or something before it died.
