86 150 Black Max Throttle?

I put it in yesterday and after I got her going she was fine in idle and at very low speed. When I tried to get it up on plane it just wouldn't go. The throttle was all the way down and it just wasn't responding. Then I noticed that reverse was also missing. The engine would hit and water would run through the prop but there was only a clicking sound. Any help?

What RPM are we talking about? If you have good RPM, then think about a spun hub on the prop.
Or- did you put the throttle in full throttle and got no response? Not much here to go on.

Sorry. I can't get an rpm reading because I haven't replaced that part yet, but it responded to the throttle until I ran out of room to push the throttle down. Maybe like if your car had a top speed of 20 mph and you push the gas all the way to the floor and it goes 20. It responded normally if my boat was only supposed to go like 10 mph. Responsive all the way through the throttle but definatley not all the power it should have. To directly answer your question it was at full throttle and seemed maxed out at a low rpm.
