85HP Force ignition lead renewal????????

Hi All,

Quick question hopefully someone will know the answer to.

Can I pull the old leads out of the coils and renew them? Or are they hard wired into the coil?

I want to make sure before I get brutal and pull them out only to find I have killed the coil!!

Please, if you have had lead problems and managed to renew just the HT leads please let me know!

I believe the coil and wire are one unit.

On some, you could unscrew the wire. Don't think that is the case for yours.

Oh Ok.

On low rev's I am getting an obvious missfire and when I checked the resistance through the coil windings they are all over the place, at least one was near open circuit.

So, I am going to have to buy some coils by the looks of it :'(

Anyone know if I can buy coils for a Mercury etc to fit?

Just thinking may be easier to find!

Did you ever find out if the spark plug wire could be replaced or not? I have a 1988 85 Force...
